One Cake Small Shawl

This reversible shawl is a very easy knit and uses only one stitch. It's perfect for a beginning knitter or an experienced knitter who wants an easy portable or TV-watching project. Gauge is not important. Size 5 needles are recommended but larger needles will give a more open knit and will work just fine. Experiment. See what works for you. Make it your own!
Finished wingspan is approximately 65" and 12" deep.

Materials

One Cake of PattyCakes Sparkle Yarn, 462 yards

US size 5/3.75mm circular needles, 29” or larger will do

Tapestry needle or crochet hook for dealing with ends

You can start from the center pull yarn or the outside yarn depending on if you’d like the darker color to be on the point or on the long, finished edge. As you approach finishing be sure to leave at least 8 - 10 yards to use for binding off.

RS = right side of your work
WS = wrong side of your work
kfb = knit in front and back of stitch which equals a one stitch increase
k2tog = knit 2 stitches as one which equals a one stitch decrease

Cast on 2 sts using your favorite cast on

Row 1 (WS): k1, kfb

Row 2 (RS): kfb, k2tog

Row 3 (WS): k to last st, kfb

TIP: slip a removable marker* anywhere on the RS so you can easily tell which side you're on.

Continue knitting, repeating the following 2 rows until you've reached your desired size.

Row 4 (RS): kfb, k to last 2 sts, k2tog

Row 5 (WS): k to last st, kfb

Bind off using a stretchy bind off, picot bind off or an i-cord bind off

No need to block - it looks great right off the needles!
